Carroll Fire Protection District

To respond to the needs of the community outside the official city limits of Urbana, Illinois, the Carroll
Addition Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1961. On March 28, 1964, the organization was granted
a "General Not-for-profit Corporation" by the State of Illinois.

The first members of the governing Board of Trustee's were: Roy King, President; Walter Cuppernell, Vice
President; Jane Miller, Treasurer; Linda King, Secretary; William Marshall, Chief

Carroll Addition Volunteer Fire Department expanded its boundries in 1964 thus becoming the Carroll Fire
Protection District as it is still known today. The Department continues to be staff by all volunteer firefighters
and EMS personnel.

The Carroll Fire Protection District currently serves approximately 5700 residents in Northeast Urbana in a
district that is eight-square miles.

The Carroll Fire Department is proud to be a charter member of M.A.B.A.S. Division 28.
